8   Overall Design Concept

Any study should include the development of an overall design concept, which can then be tested against:

• The client brief
• Policy and regulations
• Conservation Plan
• Business Plan and funding package.

• Prepare the design, drawing out the strengths of the design and any pinch points where requirements compete.

• Provide cost estimates and time scales
• Assess running and maintenance costs. The Office of Government Commerce provides useful guidance on Life Cyle Costing
• Ensure, as far as possible, that the design facilitates ongoing sustainable use through - for instance - provision of adequate space for on-site waste separation.
