Thinking about systems at the start allows for the most effective integration with structure and compatibility with the physical qualities of the building fabric. Again, the detailed design is beyond a feasibility study, but an initial concept should show that services would work in sympathy with the building rather than against it.
Planners and Policy-makers
- Consider how enforcing regulations - such as requiring a particular SAP rating - will impact on the building
- Be open to the use of less common systems and techniques, such as renewable energy systems or wetland water treatment
