6 Financing
The basic thrust of the Trongate study was to identify a future use of an existing building, that did not compromise the building’s historical value and created sufficient capital (both loan finance and grant aid) to facilitate the restoration of the key elements of the building and convert it to a viable use.
Planners and Policy-makers
- Determine whether there is there a means of establishing the value of social and cultural aspects of the proposal.
- For example, look for evidence that is not directly financial in character but could help to access sources of grant aid by demonstrating the long term viability of the building.
